Supporting Your Student

Parent Expectations:

A few things are needed for your students to achieve at their highest ability during the 2018-2019 school year.

1.) Attendance and Readiness
Please do your best to make sure your student is in their seat ready to learn. Parenting is hard work and I know that you all strive to send the most prepared student you possibly can through those doors every morning. I thank you for this! There will be circumstances that are outside of any parent's control and I understand that. However, students routinely falling asleep in-class or arriving and or leaving during class are trends that we have to work together to diminish.

2.) Homework:
Homework is tied to Fun Friday rewards as well as your student's growth through additional practice on content. Completing the homework in its entirety and turning it in is the responsibility of the student, however, parents are expected to check accuracy and completion. This ensures that homework practice is meaningful while providing students with feedback on their work.

3.) Involvement

If there is a concern or question you have about your student or your student's classroom feel free to contact me as needed. When events arise in your students' extracurricular life feel free to pass along an invite!!

How do authors use descriptive words to season their writing?
How can authors describe actions in addition to simply stating them?
All these questions are being answered through students' exploration of these language conventions that give them the power to take any ole writing to a more vibrant level.

Word Collage

How does the Constitution connect to the world around us?

Students were asked to make a list of student and teacher "Writes" for our composition community. The next step will be for students to think of rights that they feel people are missing or need to be allowed in the larger world. What rights are needed? How does the Bill of rights protect people from the government?
